As a ferret-companion for two years, I ought to know this, but I am getting
acclimated to my newest ferret and I have been wondering -
How can you tell, when ferrets do their ferocious bouncing-at-you dance,
whether they are simply having fun or whether they are truly annoyed? She
tends to bounce snapping at me more after I have just scolded her (for
clawing me or for knocking over my vase on purpose). I don't know if she
thinks this is a game or if she is truly upset with me... can anyone
translate for me? Thanks!

Phil came in the other day with a wonderful present from his
ferret Veronica--a pine cone tied to a string, accompanied by a
little baggie of Phil's home-dried banana strips.
He advised putting a strip of banana around the pine cone.
Emmett went crazy! With the pine cone, it was love at first
sight--much leaping and frisking, trying to get it.
When I put a banana strip in the cone, Emmett worked to get
it out and then happily ran off with it to eat it...and then looked
for more!
I think we have a new "ritual" now--the Pine Cone Game. Thanks,
Phil and Veronica! Hope everybody has fun with this one!
