Many products sold in health food stores are considered food supplements.
As such they are not regulated by the government. They can claim anything
they want with absolutely no supporting evidence. There are disreputable
vendors and reputable ones. It is difficult for the consumer to figure out
which is which. Consider the following points:
1. The are unscrupulous or ignorant doctors and Vets hired by companies as
captive experts.
2. The basic function of the immune system. Many diseases will be cured
without the use of any medicine. The fact the a product was used in
an anecdotal setting does not mean that it had an effect on the outcome.
3. The placebo effect. Many studies have been done on this. If a group of
people have a headaches and half the group are given aspirin and half
are given a sugar pill the results are surprising. About 20 to 30
percent of the sugar pill group will claim the pill cured their
headache.
These factors allow unscrupulous supplement vendors to push unbelievable
products. I searched the Internet for "shark cartilage". The results are
divided into to categories. The sites SELLING shark cartilage claim it is
a wonder cure. Those not selling the product state that it is WORTHLESS.

For those that still require a natural I have the solution. Recently my
ferret came down with a cold. A friend told me to use boiled yak fat. I
smeared my ferret with the stuff and he had a miraculous recovery. I am
now producing this stuff. It works for hair lose, colds, bearing
lubrication, and will prevent cancer. Please email me for pricing.
