Dee is correct in that Dr. Williams', or any vets' posts, do not take the
place of direct examination by a qualified vet, especially in an emergency
situation.

I don't think BIG's suggestion of a suspension of the 3 post limit for Dr.
Williams is because he believes those posts are of an urgent nature, but
because of the automatic nature of the mailing list software. BIG does not
even see the 4th post from a member; the software automatically bounces it
back to the sender.

The only option for a busy vet who is willing to devote his some of his
very limited spare time is count his messages and only send 3 a day, saving
up the others for the next day, when he may or may not have time to deal
with it. Or he can send his messages directly to BIG, who will have to
verify which ones are for the FML and which might be personal messages and
forward appropiately.

In either case, it would take extra time for two people who already devote
an incredible amount of their time to ferrets and the FML. I'm in favor of
waving the limit for Dr. Williams.

And in response to Kat, who says:
>we would KNOW the info is solid since we would KNOW the vet

Even Dr. Williams admits that he doesn't know all the answers. But he even
learns from us. Just the other day an FMLer educated him about the perils
of hydrogen peroxide, and it is another indication of his quality that he
was willing and eager to learn!
