Dear Anne,

Please re-read my post. I was merely passing on information I obtained
from the Vet crew at PetCo, therefor why ask me for statutes? I didn't
pull the info out of my hat; it was given to me by the Vet Tech who
received the info from the Vet with whom she worked. I merely passed on
what I was told.

Thank you for offering me the phone numbers. Unfortunately, the only free
time I have is the six hours I use for sleep (which I sometimes skip to
catch up on email business). I honestly do not have the time to call a
gov't agency for info.

In regards to using the Vets at PetCo: I will readily admit I am a snob; I
prefer to use my own Vet. Until this past summer, I didn't think a ferret
would get anything more than a shot and sent on its way at PetCo. That is
until I viewed the situation for myself. I am sure each Vet crew is
different, but I was impressed by the crew I saw.

The ferret is given benedryl, is looked over and felt
up (just like at a Vets office) and shot. Then the
owner/parent must bring the ferret back somewhere
between 20-30 minutes so the Vet can check for any
reaction. And the Vet crew who does the shots in
Central NJ do see many ferrets. Again, I and my
friends have viewed this ourselves.

I offered to take my friends ferrets to PetCo because
I am there doing volunteer work on shot days. Since I
am extremely busy these days, the PetCo situation was
convinient for both me and my friend She just moved
here from Florida w/hubby, started a job, and found
out she is pregnant...both she and I are very busy and
low on cash. Would it be preferrable we not get them
vaccinated (or vaccinated in a timely manner) then to
get them shot up at PetCo? I could have sworn I read a
post on the fml warning against a laps in time for
vaccinations.

I welcome corrections, advise, etc. You all are my
sourse of knowledge. I just get a little offended when
someone asks me to site codes and statutes when all I
did was make known what I was told by a Vet crew.

Lise
