[log in to unmask][log in to unmask], 8 Oct 2000 23:00:57 -0400448_- Tornado and Hurricane were adopted out again. Poor kids, they've been to
the shelter 3 times in less than 2 months! Hopefully this home will be
their last! Sissy, after being at the shelter for months, was finally
adopted into a good home. i'm real happy for her.
We took in quite a few ferrets this week too. 2 from the Toronto Humane,
2 from Oakville H.S. and ose when she was younger. [...]42_1Sep200011:13:

[log in to unmask], 1 Sep 2000 07:36:47 EDT614_- Check out my allergy page for answers to most of your questions....in
summary ... yes you can have A ferret (or two) without hurting your father
IF you follow strict precautions listed on my site.
Not listed are things like using an aircleaner. Not listed on there is
also how one thing can trigger sensitivity to other allergens that don't
normally bother you. So in short get a handle on everything else first.
Get a handle on dusting constantly, vacuuming with a dust free vacuum every
day, possibly using dust mite killer regularly on his bedroom carpet (where
ferrets won't [...]36_1Sep200007:36:

If you are allergic to them I'm glad that it's controllable for this to be
an option; have known some people whose allergies got very out of control.
My allergist was more sensible and my allergies more amenable in part.
When he asked about pets I told him about the seven ferrets and added that
I'm not allergic to them, but I am allergic to my hubby's scalp (sort of)

[log in to unmask], 1 Sep 2000 09:47:45 -0700381_- Carla....
Regarding the Colorado laws about the practice of veterinary medicine, what
seems to be missing are the paragraphs dealing with the self administration
of meds.
In most states, one can administer to their own livestock with no
penalties. It is when one starts to administer to livestock other than
their own that state laws are violated. [...]45_1Sep200009:47:

[log in to unmask], 1 Sep 2000 11:40:59 -0400566_- I am writing in defense of Randy, and those out there dedicating their time
to ferrets. I know that technically giving the vaccines, and then possibly
giving them the solumedrol, and other meds to counteract any reactions can
be "practicing vet. medicine"- If so, maybe the fact that I have given
my dogs their vaccines- at a cost of $4 per shot, instead of $45 the vet
charges- is also not legal. Also, cost aside, I am trained to do it on
humans, and can LEGALLY give shots to people. When I did this some vets
gave me a hard [...]37_1Sep200011:40:

[log in to unmask], 1 Sep 2000 10:00:04 EDT448_- I just wanted to put in my own comment on veterinarians. Vets are fine,
noble people to devote their whole life and career to helping animals, but
the fact is is that they're basically DOCTORS.
Doctors, as we all know, are opinionated and have their OWN rules for
diagnosis and treatment. One vet may think that a certain measure is too
risky and unnecessary to be taken, while another may deem it vital and
important. [...]40_1Sep200010:00:
