Barb and all others who have lost a loved one(s) -
I know at this time it helps to share your grief with others. Most of
us have lost a loved one at one time or another and we all feel for you.
The best we can do is provide a quality of life for our little ones
while they're here. Spend quality time with them and never do anything
you'll regret. Each day I tell mine I love them and give them lots of
hugs and kisses (with 27 you know what I do with my time!) because some
day there will be no tomorrow.
Bugs - Could these little critters be weevils like we find in old flour
and such? Just a thought.
Robert and Miranda - If there is power in thought, you have all of mine.
Has Miranda been given our special recipe for added protein? Has your
vet talked to you about insulinoma? That blood count needs to come up
one way or another. I've found with mine, when they don't feel well they
don't eat and especially when they have cancer. Whitney has to be fed a
special recipe or she refuses to eat or drink. Pedialyte will help with
dehydration. When mine are ill, I drop them off at the vet for the day
and pick them up at night because even though the vets check on them in
the evening, they are alone the majority of the night and I can monitor
them at home. Of course this means sleepless nights for me, but they
are worth it! When Whitney's blood sugar gets low I give her sweetened
condensed milk (3 cc)with Vet-a-lac or Goat-a-lac. She will take this
easier and with less fuss than the recommended Karo syrup or honey. I'm
sure Dr. Williams will have input for you.
Cats and Ferrets - My sister had a ferret and cat and when I watched them
play (!?) together, I thought surely someone would get hurt. Otis would
grab the cat by the back of the neck and the cat would flip over and chomp
on Otis, sometimes in the throat area. Of course this concerned me but
after monitoring the play (!?) closely, we found they were just having
fun (!?). I would recommend very close monitoring and separation if things
get serious but that had been my only experience with cats and ferrets so
I'm really not one to give advice on this issue.
Dishwashing - Sometimes I put mine up on the counter while I'm washing
dishes and its so funny to see them try to snatch the dishes either out
of the soapy water (guess dishes aren't suppose to get baths either), or
out of the drainer. Don't know why but they love to place them where they
think they should be, which by the way, is all piled in the corner!
Bad Ferret - There are no bad ferrets, only frightened or mistreated ones.
Hugs to all! tle
