I've read past debates on the FML regarding Marshall Farms and their
spaying practices. Now I have a statistic to add.
One of the 15 St Johns rescue ferrets (Selma, approx 3 years old,
chocolate) went for exploratory surgery because of a swollen vulva.
Here's what Dr. P found:
"Abdominal exploratory revealed stump pyrometria w/right hydroureter,
connective/scar tissue adhering bladder to uterus stump. Suspect right
ureter in cluded in ligature w/uterine body when ferret was spayed
(Marshalls)."
In layman's terms, she was full of pus and the wrong part was clamped
during the spay.
I found Marshall's on the Internet and emailed them this incident. Somehow
they need to be held accountable for their actions.
I don't mean to set off a whole MF debate for the umpteenth time; I just
wanted to share the fact that inept spaying practices are still going on
at Marshall Farms.
