i had the same problem with my little boy for a while, although i think
it would apply to both males and females. the problem was solved by
getting a litter box with higher sides. they sell some pretty nice ones
in pet stores, or even k-mart where i got mine. (they try to call them
small cat litter boxes, but we all know that they are made for ferrets.)
also, with your litter training problem, try to clean out the boxes as
often as possible in the beginning. my ferrets, when i was training
them, seemed to prefer this to a full box.
