Not being a California resident, I am not sure if anyone has made a
proposition like this one. I was thinking it would be difficult for the
Fish and Game Gestapo to argue against the idea of legalizing ferrets
that are FIXED. This would not be a hardship on ferret owners since most
ferrets are fixed anyway and the F&G folks could not say they could create
feral populations. They would be no more of a threat individually than any
cat (less, I know, but we're talking dumb bureaucrat types here). It seems
this takes away their biggest argument and gives them little wiggle room
to justify keeping these critters illegal. It's just a thought, but one
I felt was worth sharing. One reason my husband didn't accept a job in CA
is that our furries would be fugitives. Another is that I prefer to live
where the ground don't move! :)
