I for one have run into that way of thinking in others. I try so hard to
understand it....yet I must admit, Judy I just don't. I have not ever seen
ADV nor met someone with an ADV ferret. But does that make me ... sigh...
unmotivated to do something?! NO.
I had trouble understanding the disease, until someone helped me. I didn't
understand the urgency til someone told me personally. Then I sat down and
learned it. I then realized too why people have "skipped" over the topic.
Most sites are wordy, and technical. Even when discussed on the FML in
the past, the posts were confusing. So I and others "skimmed" over them
thinking we were safe in our homes. The point is you have put forth posts
about "Living with ADV" so we can slowly begin to understand it. I have
posted snipetts of factoids sloooowly so others begin to learn. I then
made a sight Straight Talk on ADV that aaanyone can read and understand
(plus it has more comprehensive links for those that want them). Now with
the laid back Wolf... placing factoids, and with this new website... you
would think others would stop and think, "wow.. another ece comming...but
WORSE, and we can help prevent it." But I have recieved only a few emails
on my posts, and website. A combined effort of FML'ers made that site....
for EVERYONE. It was a lot of work, ...but, it's a GIFT. I offered it to
anyone to take, or link, or translate, etc...just get the word out. Yet
I'm not so sure many have taken up this challenge.
Knowledge is power. You can learn to prevent and slow the spread of this
disease so that a treatment, or vaccine even is found. It could happen to
you... but you can help prevent it from happening on some levels. With
these sites and info you can put them on your sites, you can email them or
give them to your Vet..whom I hate to say probably knows very little about
it if anything at all, or make donations.
I'm sorry, I know this is not the Wolfy everyone knows... I feel like
I'm yelling into the wind with this information. I can't imagine the
exasperation those affecte by ADV are.
