Hello everyone!
Jay (my bf) & I had an idea the other night. Joey, our newest pack member,
still isn't really accepted by the Fab Four. He only plays & eats when
they are sleeping, and really enjoys when we give him Mommy & Daddy time in
the bedroom. We are concidering making him our "house ferret" while the
others would have their room all to themselves. But we have a loft with
oak rails and we're scared if Joey is free roam that he'll fall off the
loft! Anyone have any luck with ferret-proofing a loft? We were thinking
maybe a foot or so of plexi-glass along the rails to prevent any wardancing
off the loft. Also, we have a 60 lb German Shephard puppy who gets along
fine with the ferrets, and is caged even when the kids aren't (he stays
in a crate when we aren't home). Unfortunately this means unsupervised
ferret/doggie interaction. But the ferrets are the ones who bite and
tease! And Koty (the dog) never snaps or growls, just cocks his head or
runs around like a weirdo. Is this house ferret idea way off the wall?
Who out there has experience with this type of set up (loft & doggie)?
Update on Miya, our oldest (born 2/98), who had adrenal surgery on 8/18,
removing her left gland: she is now thoroughly stubbled (even her belly
where it had been bald for some time). Yippeeeeeeeeee! It sucks too,
though, cause we can't blow on her belly and make cool load noises! Her
tail is still really bald, but that's mostly due to blackheads, which we've
been working on for the past week by using face wipes or Clearasil soap
every few days. We see some purple-ness happening on her tail now - an
indication of hair regrowth! FINALLY!
I'll see some of you at the GCFA show on Saturday...can't wait!
*hugs n' dooks*
