Just got a call from a woman. Their daughter has a rapidly worsening
allergy to ferrets. The mother is in a medical profession and all are
animal nuts, plus they adore the ferrets and are broken hearted about
this) so they checked everything (litter, ferret shampoo, etc.) hoping to
avoid this option, but it really is the ferrets causing the allergy, and
meds just aren't controlling the child's reactions at all decently with the
symptoms worsening. They have taken the strong measure of actually placing
the daughter elsewhere (with her grandparents) until the ferrets can have a
good new home because they are so serious about the new home being a good
one.
Applicants will need a veterinarian's reference; that will let them know
that the home is a real one where good care and love are provided.
The ferrets are:
a male born in February 1999 who sounds like he might be a chocolate
and
a female born in April 1999 who sounds like she might be black sable with
high contrast
Both have been neutered.
They are very attached to each other.
The family wants to include their cage so that they will feel more at home
wherever they go.
The family is willing to provide this year's vaccinations for them
beforehand.
As you can tell this family is heart-broken but every other option has been
tried; they love these ferrets.
After 8 p.m. and before 10 p.m. for best results,
Loretta Dolan, 732-494-9351
She is getting in touch with some contacts I gave her so the ferrets might
place very rapidly, or might wind up in the Fuzztek shelter. If so, call
Anne Ryan at that shelter; she always has ferrets which need homes.
