I have 5 ferrets and 4 rats (as well as other fuzzy critters). My rats
live in the bedroom which is ferret-free so they never really come into
contact with each other. When I was a one-ferret household the rats were
in the livingroom near Loki's cage. They would sniff at each other, but
that was about it. They never seemed to be upset by it. Even now if I
hold the rats after holding the ferrets (or vice versa) the do sniff around
a lot, but it never seems to be in a way that indicates they are upset.
They're all used to our big crew here and everyone gets along pretty well.
