Today was the hottest day ever in Austin history -- 112 degrees! However,
this means that we're using more energy, thus putting a greater strain on
power sources and increasing the odds of an outage.

People who have a risk of power outage should prepare their fuzzies' cages
in case there's an outage while the ferrets are left alone in the house.
I have a frozen water bottle wrapped in a sock in Dervish's cage; I also
have a damp towel over the top, with a "wick" leading to a bucket of ice
water to keep it damp and cool.

Better safe than sorry ... I wouldn't want anyone in the "hot zone" to come
home to a roasted ferret! :-)
