I have a new foster ferret - Penny. She was dumped last Tuesday at the
Rabbit Rodent & Ferret House in Seattle. Her owners decided they didn't
want her anymore because she was sick (heliocobacter - sp?). They applied
for another ferret to take her place - needless to say they probably didn't
get one. She is an absolute sweetheart - they gave her up just when she
was getting better, she is doing well in my home. She doesn't eat on her
own still - she eats soft food off your finger, but she is very spunky!
She has been pretty aggressive when she's met my other ferrets, so she is
obviously feeling much better. She doesn't eat her crunchies, but she's
started taking them and hiding them for later! She's 4 years old, dark
sable, very tiny. She has good solid poops, and other than the fact that
she still won't eat her crunchies you wouldn't know she was sick. I'm
going to have her another couple weeks (hoping to get her on crunchies by
then), but I hate to give her back to the shelter. Part of the reason
she's doing so well is that she gets out of her cage & gets lots of
attention, and at the shelter she's just left in her cage all the time with
no attention. If anybody in the Seattle area wants to adopt this sweet
baby - please let me know. Since I don't own her you'd have to apply with
Sandy at the Rabbit Rodent and Ferret house. The number is (206) 365-9105
and its at 14325 Lake City Way NE, Seattle. Sandy knows her as her old
name "Phyllis" (yuck!). Just tell her its the one that Corynne (nail & ear
girl) is fostering. I just don't want her to go back downhill! We need
homes so bad - 7 ferrets were dumped in the last week, and I haven't talked
to them in the last few days so it could be more than that!
