It's okay to use Stridex (or similiar brand) pads on a ferret tail for
blackheads - as long as you don't use it more than once a week or for
longer than 2 - 3 weeks. Some people dilute it, I just squeeze it out.

When I see a ferret starting to get a bit thin on the tail with blackheads,
I wash the tail only with an antibacterial shampoo and I use an old
toothbrush to "scrub" it. Be gentle <g> Once that is done, I use a
Stridex pad and rub it up and down the tail. I do this once a week for
2 - 3 weeks, no more since their skin can dry out quickly.

The hair usually comes back in rather quickly after doing this.
