i run a very small, but humble shelter out of my home. no kill and very
non profit. about two months ago, i got in a female ferret with massive
hairloss on her tail and a tad on the base of her rump. the vet (this was
not my vet-but is ferret experienced. i do not go to her because it is not
possible due to distance. she saw the ferret from where i picked her up,
which was from a shelter that didnt have room for her) felt she was very
malnurished, rather than being adrenal because she had no other signs.
besides being a bit thin and the hair loss, she was fairly healthy.
now that sometime has gone by, she has put on about double her weight and i
was VERY excited to see she has some hair growth....very noticable at that!
not only that, she has really started coming out of her shell. she use to
shake terribally when i held her, now she doesn't shake at all and even
begs to be taken out of her cage, whereas before she just layed in her
hammock looking dazed and depressed.
my question is....what are the chances her being adrenal verses stress?
this is my first possible adrenal to come into the shelter and i have been
begging my vet to take a look at her/do some tests (but he wont, so i am
currently looking for another vet-this is not the subject though, so please
dont scold me for something my vet wont do-its all ready been established
that he wont see the ferret, so hes lost me as a customer)-so im currently
trying to find a vet who is ferret experienced...has not been easy and the
phone bill is sky high this past two months trying to find one. meanwhile,
i would just like to know if it sounds like shes adrenal or just stressed.
i take the hair growth as a possitive sign, but i know i could also be
missing something and getting high hopes too soon.
thank you for your time and dook on!:)
