Some meds should NEVER be exposed to water or saliva -- destroys their
effectiveness or has other bad results.  The vet or pharmacist can help
you know which ones.  If it's a new med then the researchers who helped
develop it will have that info.  With such meds you need to mix them with
an oil based thing or something else water-free which will coat.
 
Everyone: ask the pros like the vets and pharmacists so that you give your
ferrets optimal care and don't accidentally endanger them.  It's not the
sort of thing you think about till you've been there; then you learn this
aspect fast...
