I'd like to clarify what a recognized FML shelter is from the S.O.S. point
of view, just in case this post indicates there is any confusion on the
subject. The FML Shelter List which I compile and send to BIG to send
out to all of you is not a list of shelters which are approved or
recognized or sanctioned by BIG. They are not even "recognized" by S.O.S.
if that term could imply that shelters which are not on the list are not
good, legitimate shelters. There are excellent shelters which have chosen
not to be listed by us. Also, unless I win the lottery, I will never have
the resources to personally check out the shelters that are on the list.
Hope that helps someone!
Blessings
Judith
[Moderator's note: Thanks Judith, I meant to comment on the original post
but you've said most of it. I was gonna add a note about how I believe
all the people behind S.O.S. to be totally honest, hearts in the right
place etc. but that the shelter listings are by no means comprehensive.
If you're looking to donate, please don't overlook your local shelter,
whether or not it is on the S.O.S. list. But I don't have to say it --
I'm sure it's obvious. BIG]
