I have heard a ferret scream twice.  My first ferret, Jesse--a timid,
high-strung fellow, screamed when I opened the box the pet store provided
for his trip home.  Brandy, my feisty little shelter adoptee, screamed when
Jesse tried to separate her from her raisin.  My third ferret, Digger,
whined for attention for his first few nights; but no screaming so far.
 
It is not a sound that is easily forgotten!
