At 2:12 p.m. on Friday, July 28, 2000, we helped Charlie go to a better
place...free of pain...free of discomfort...but also missing us... We were
with him till the end, and took a page from a dear friend's book...Thank
you, FuzzieDad...Char left us with his last memory being Mommy and Daddy
giving him a favorite treat...Nutri-Cal...he licked it till he fell
asleep...:)
we left him there for the necropsy...then will get him and bring him home
to be buried next to OldGuy...
this is the best we could do for the necropsy...
7-29-00...First call from Vet
Dr. R. called this morn...[he was not there when we took Char in
yesterday]...he said a necropsy looking for neurological problems would
cost between $150.00 - $200.00...we told him just check what the regular
necropsy checked...[if we were dealing with something that would affect
the lives of our others...that would be different... but we are not...]...
he is suspecting an infection in the brain that spread...to the ears and
down the spine...
we will see what the normal necropsy shows...
7-29-00...Second call from Vet
Dr. R. has just called back...left a message on my voice mail as I was not
home...he found nothing wrong with Charlie in the routine necropsy...'cept
a softening of the right cerebrum...which MAY have been caused by death
and laying on his side afterwards...or maybe not. The only way we would
be able to find out more would be to do pathology on his brain and spinal
column...possibilities are distemper in the brain or spinal cord...or
tumors in/on the spinal cord...but a definite diagnosis would require the
further tests.
We feel that this is not necessary...besides us not having the funds to
do this... Char is dead and not from anything that could harm or kill our
other ferrets.
We would have liked to know for sure...to put an end...a name... a cause...
to all Char went through...but I guess that is not to be... I am sorry for
that...
I will post these results on his page when I receive them...
