First, I would like to say Happy Fourth of July to all.  And I pray all
have a Happy and Save Holiday.
 
My question is: Just how long does it take to get put on Ferret Central
State List?  I have contacted the Ferret Central I know for over the last
six months to be added to their State's Shelter List.  In The State of
Louisiana they show only 3 Shelter's Open.  Recently they had a closing of
2.  After contacting also a Shelter in Louisiana,just 20 minutes from my
shelter in Bossier.  I tried to call the director, I lefted no message,
since they had no answering machine, but with the advancement of Caller
ID's I somehow had a return call.  I wanted to know more about her shelter
and her placements.  At first one, she started off rude.  She must have
thought I was a spy for a Ferret Gang or something.  I started to just hang
up.  I wanted information on her shelter so that my shelter could be added
since hers was.  I thought being that shelters were here to help the
ferret.That a director of a shelter would love to help or share in advice
to another shelter.  I am alway's willing to help anyone wanting help with
their ferret or if a shelter is in need.  I discussed my plans with her.
After a few minutes she knew who I was.  Being that there are not to many
ferret shelters in our state.  And that I had before talked with her in the
past on receiving placements of ferrets that she couldn't adopt.  I wanted
to know a little more about her set-up..I was under the impression that her
shelter was one that you visited and adopted a ferret.I was told by her,she
does not bring actually ferrets to her shelter any more.  We places ferrets
by people wanting ferrets.  But not actually seeing the ferret itself.  I
explain to her that I was enlarging my ferret shelter by locating a
building to full house ferrets and small pets.  She also told me that the
demand of ferrets here were few.  And that there not many ferrets were out
to be adopted.  Well, if that were the case.  Tell me, where are all these
ferrets coming from?  At the end of our conversation we ended on good
terms, but still no information from her on The Ferret Central List for
States.  What I need to know, ONE WHAT DO I DO?, OR WHO DO I NEED TO TALK
WITH?, ABOUT HAVING THE FERRET CENTRAL UPDATE THEIR LIST!OR HOW OFTEN DO
THEY UPDATE IT?  I was told I would be added, but how long should it take?
I Also would like to know if it is beneficial to have a 501(c)?  I wanted
one so that any donations could be used directly to my shelters exspenses.
At the moment all money received is directed toward my Veternary for
medical care.  I am not trying to be a pain in the old rump.  But My ferret
babies are important to me.  And I want to see all get a loving home.  We
need to have people know how to get in contact with us.  Maybe this way we
don't hear any more sad stories of Ferrets being abandoned or mistreated.
