I've got three little ones.  Mira licklickchomps when I'm wearing
especially nice smelling hand cream.  Otherwise, she doesn't bite at all.
Cael bites when he plays, but only sometimes, and he steals hands every
once in a while.  In other words, he grabs your hand in his teeth, holds
on, but not hard enough to hurt unless you try to get away, and pulls you
behind or under something.  As long as you go along with it until he drops
your hand at its final destination, you won't ever get hurt.  Tasha isn't a
year yet, actually, only 6 months or so, and she nips while playing,
especially feet.  So, when people ask me if it bites, I always tell them,
"She only nips when she plays," or, "Only if you hurt him." I explain they
are "just like puppies.  They bite when they play, but not hard, unless you
hurt them or are mean to them, and then they'll be mean back." I find if
you compare them to a puppy or a kitten, animals that most people are very
comfortable with, it helps a LOT.  Then of course, they want to know more,
how similar are they to our beloved dog, etc.  Really helps to promote
ferrets, I think.  Just my three cents.
