Hello Ann,
We have had several cardio kids here at the shelter over the years.  It
really depends on the type of enlargement -- the diagnosis of the condition
as to which method of treatment is prudent.  Some can be managed better
than others.  Our lymphoma / heart patient was the greatest task-- as the
p[red required to manage lympho-- also distressed and excelerated the heart
condition.
 
Depending on the form of cardiomyopathy you may be able to manage the fluid
( edema) buy administering small doses of lasix.  This will help keep
excess fluids passing through and not settling in the body cavity-- and
backing up into the lungs.  Several other vets use enacard to regulate the
conditions-- but I again urge you to try and get a determination on the
form of heart disease the ferret has.
