Greetings fellow ferret-parents!
I am frustrated.
My 3 year old male sable ferret "Fizz-Gig" still has small bare patches on
his shoulders.
They're about the size of a quarter and a dime.
It started about 5 weeks ago at the peak of a flea infestation. He had
fleas in his beds, and on his body. They seemed to all hatch at once..
I have old shag carpet, and I think that's what protected them from my
vaccuuming.
I gave him his first dose of Advantage two weeks ago, washed his beddings,
and steam-cleaned the carpets, spraying "Safers" flea spray afterwards.
The patches haven't grown or shrunk since the flea-blitz. How patient do
I have to be?
Is there anything I can give him to stimulate hair growth? What's this
I've been hearing about FLAX oil?
I hope it's not adrenal. :
He has FULL, THICK hair on his tail, haunches, and everywhere else on his
body.
He's eating, drinking, and pooping.
He's playing and alert.
__BUT__: For nearly 2 years (as long as I've had him) he sometimes drags
his "belly-button" across objects. He doesn't pee, but I think it's still
marking behavoir. I think it's kind of a hormonal surge he gets once a
month, like PMS.
WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK??????
Also, if he's otherwise healthy (except for the thin hair patches) can I
still go ahead with his vaccinations? I need to get them done soon. He
loves going for walks outside, and he's scheduled for Oct. 19th.
I appreciate any advice anyone has.
Thank you.
Kris and Fizzy.
