Actually that is mistaken information.  It has been brought up and
thoroughly discussed several times.
 
Cats were domesticated in Egypt.  They also apparently have been keeping
mongeese over the centuries as well.
 
Ferrets seem to have been domesticated in Europe centuries later.
 
Its a matter of when civilization reached the point that granaries were
large enough to need animals to reduce the vermin population.
 
But your point about ferret being carnivores and hunters is spot on
accurate.

Off topic: Your book mark file is an html file and can be moved from one
machine to another.  Usually called "bookmark.htm" and in a "user"
directory for the browser.
