I can't say that I know how horrible you must feel. I've come close, a few
times, to having something terrible happen because of my own negligence or
failure to remember to do something before allowing the fuzzies in an area.
 
I can say that you are only human.  In my belief there was only one who was
perfect and made no mistakes in his lifetime.  (As far as I can determine
he didn't have pet ferrets.)  In everything, no matter how terrible and
unfair, there is a greater purpose.
 
Gather your fuzzies and love them.  You'll get thru this.
