As to my bit about the Sierra Club, the anonymous poster may be correct.
I have been in contact with Jeanne of CFL and several other interested
parties regarding this subject, forwarding them all responses I got from
the various sections of the Sierra Club whom I was in contact with.  One
of these was one which specifically stated that the position was ammended
from opposing legalization to no position.  Unfortunately, I deleted these
messages because I was almost out of space.  I don't know if anyone I
forwarded them to still has copies of them.  I suggest you follow the
advice of the anon poster as far as visiting the CFL website, etc.  I have
no idea about the rest of what the anon poster said.  As I said in my first
post, until the point where I began looking into it myself several weeks
ago, I was not aware of the Siearra Clubs past or present position on the
matter.  Also, I do not live in California (never have, NEVER will) so I
may not be the most appropriate source of information.  I didn't intend
to disagree with anyone, or to claim any knowledge on the subject at all,
really, but only to relate my experience, the results of which were
regarded with satisfaction by more than myself.  (I leave out names here
because I don't want to accidentally misrepresent anyone.) As always, the
best way to discover information is to look into it yourself, which is why
I did what I did, and how I got the information I did.  But by all means,
look into it yourself!!!  That is the only way to weed out halftruths or
outright falseness from truth.  I encourage anyone who regarded my post as
possibly true, or possibly untrue, or with any interest one way or the
other at all, to look into it themselves, to get as much info as they can
personally.  And even though I usually regard the information on places
such as the CFL and Ferret Central as 99.9999% of the time the truth, it
cannot be denied that for anyone but the administrators, it is second-hand
information, and as such, should be personally verified by an any person
intending to represent it as true.  I guess I should have approached the
responses I got with as much skeptisism as the anon poster did, but since I
got the same response from more than one different person, from more than
one different club or branch thereof, I regarded it as mostly true, and
happily shared that information.  That is all I intended to do.  No harm
