The only small ferrets I've met are usually Marshall Farms who are nuetered
young, the runt of the litter who managed to live anyway and kits who
became ill during the vital growth period and lived to grow up, but never
gained the size of their parents or litter maters.
When I was at a ferret club picnic in Toronto, I was asked by a local if I
knew of any breeders who deliberately bred for small ferrets. I don't know
any. I know some breed for the larger sizes and personality and color, but
no one breeding for tiny ferrets.
In my personal opinion, small ferrets have less resources to help them
survive illness etc and seem to die more easily and younger than other
ferrets the same age, the same disease and the same weight. We lost a 1#
girl to side effects of ECE and a 1# whole male to unkown causes.
