My interest in ferrets began a little over 2 years ago, and I started
investigating them, learning about them, visiting people who owned
them, and otherwise becoming rather infatuated with the little beasts!
So, a little less than 1 1/2 years ago, I purchased two lovely male
ferrets from a local breeder, a *large* cage, and all the appropriate
additions.
Since then, they've been neutered/descented, and all their shots are
up to date (or will be very shortly ... they're due for another
round!).
They've got a pretty comfortable life, though I haven't been able to
manage to train them to live outside of the cage... perhaps my
inexperience is causing this problem. Also, my lack of devotion is
likely an issue -- perhaps if I stayed home for several days, and
worked on reinforcing them to use their litter boxes, then perhaps I
would have some success... but I just can't find that sort of time.
I *really* adore Strange and Charm, and have even "rescued" a third
ferret (Up) from someone who was just going to give her away to anyone
who would take her. She's sweet, and stays in her own cage... she
beats up on the boys if I put them together... they're miserable, so I
keep them apart. I tried keeping them together for a few days, but
they just didn't get along, so I stopped. Made them happier.
So, what's the point of all this?
Between increasing work pressure, a recent injury which has me in
Physical Therapy 3 times a week, and a new house, it's becoming
extremely difficult to pay the appropriate amount of attention to
my ferrets. Perhaps, if I had just 1, (Up), I could cope more
appropriately.
So, I'm looking for someone who'd like to adopt two male ferrets, in
good health, about 1 yr and 8 mos old. I *won't* let them go to just
anyone. I'm taking acceptable care of them, but would be happier if
they were with someone who would take very good care of them, and
spend lots of time with them, or train them properly, or otherwise
improve their standard of living...
Once is a Sable, the other is Cinnimon, both are quite large and
*never* bite. I cured them of that right when I got them, though I
went through a week of constantly scratched and bitten hands.... :-)
They're from the same litter and have always been together, they aren't
seperable. I've got all shots and surgery paperwork.
I've had an offer for someone to take them, but I can't let them go
when I know he'll tire of them in a year, and then go off to college,
and have to had them over to someone else... too risky. I need someone
who's a little more stable, and preferable who's has had experience
with ferrets.
So, if you're interested, or know someone who is, please contact me
either at this email address ([log in to unmask]), or call me daytime,
412-268-7144, or evening 412-421-5490.
I'm located in Pittsburgh, but am willing to travel up to 500 miles
(or split a longer distance with you) to give these pair a better
home. I'm going to ask for some cash so I know you're *really* serious
about this... I don't want to move them into an inferior home! I feel
badly enough as it is!
Thanks for wading through this long diatribe, I feel terribly guilty
at not taking good care of them, and your assistance in helping me
find a better home is deeply appreciated!
Thanks!
Barry
