Hi my name is Martha and I just joined the group. I currently have 7
ferrets, all rescues except my second ferret which I bought. I also had
3 more ferrets I rescued that have now passed and one which I rescued and
found a home for. I love ferrets and want to learn more about taking care
of their health. It seems everytime I take a ferret to the vet, I end up
with a thousand dollar bill and a dead ferret, even though the vet is a
ferret specialist. Anyone know of a good ferret vet in S.Florida (Ft
Lauderdale area)?
I wanted some input on one of my ferrets. She is a few months old and was
rescued from a pet store that din't take care of theri animals and was shut
down. Spaz is a very happy and hyper ferret. Now I know ferrets are hyper
but she seems to be hyper even for a ferret. Although she appears very
healthy and happy, she has been losing much hair on her tail. I know
ferrets lose hair from adrenal gland disease and other diseases as well as
from stress. I think Spaz has adapted well to her new home environment and
I've had her with me for about 3 months or more. Could her hyperactivity
be causing her to lose her hair on her tail? Sort of as a result from
hyperactive stress? What do you all think? What has been your experience
with ferrets that lose hair on their tail? What can I do to help her relax
a bit and to help her grow her tail back?
Thanks and take care!
Martha
