Anastasia, actually, in NJ ferret permits ARE required and get renewed
annually (and NJ is a very friendly state toward ferrets so don't let it
bother you). You need to send your basic ferret info (number, genders,
neutered or not, where each was obtained and when, etc.) plus $10 to
Division of Non-Game Species
New Jersey Dept. of Fish, Game and Wildlife
CN 400
Trenton, NJ 08625-0400
In the past when there have been local anti-ferret laws challenged the NJ
Dept of FG&W has been happy to do what it can to support the ferret (and
get such laws over-turned) but ONLY if the ferret has its permit; without
the permit their hands are tied. The NJ Health Dept. has also been
marvelous in these regards.
You don't have to take my word on this; ask the Non-game Division of FG&W
and you will learn this for yourself. They are only a phone call away.
