Hi All :)
I haven't written for a LONG, long time, due to moving twice, but I
encountered something last night that made me decide to write to "you all".
I have used the silica sand litter on and off with the ferts for a while,
and I got it again a few days ago, AND... Claudia (5 year old) was digging
to get out of her carrier (they're in a carrier right now because I just
moved 4 days ago and haven't put the cag up yet), so I took her out... She
had 3 pieces of the silica litter stuck on her vulva :-( I raced her to
the kitchen sink cause it was the first thing that came to mind on how to
get it off. When I pulled, she STRETCHED (OWCH!), and began to bleed, and
I noticed urine coming out, and that the surrounding skin was purple. She
was being SOOOO good, considering I was ripping her vulva off :-(
After Much more distress on MY part I think, I pulled and pulled the litter
off (the water didn't help much at all), and she trickled urine, and she
bled :-( I held her so she could and WOULD lick herself.
She hid food for about an hour last night afterward, a thing she only does
when she's stressed. She was running around just fine though. I whipped
her out of the carrier first thing this morning and checked her out. She
looks the same as she did last night, VERY swollen, purple, and there's a
bit of a scab. She was still acting normal.
Has anyone ever experienced anything like this before? Any reccomendations
on an ointment?? I'm just going to keep checking her several times a day.
I think if I take her to the vet I'd only pay for somethiing that she would
merely lick off...
Thanks all :)
